Les agriculteurs : pourquoi c’est important
Aujourd’hui, j’aimerais parler des agriculteurs et du prix des produits frais. Ces dernières années, beaucoup de choses ont changé. Je m’en rends compte car je passe souvent du temps en dehors de la France, et le changement est très visible quand je reviens.
Si autant d’expatriés aiment la France, ce n’est pas seulement pour les paysages, la gastronomie ou l’histoire. C’est aussi — et surtout — pour notre quotidien. Pour le fait que, ici, on fait encore ses courses chez le boulanger, le boucher, le fromager. Pour ces petits commerces de quartier où l’on discute, où l’on prend le temps, où l’on connaît les gens. Et, ce sont précisément ces petits commerces — et ceux qui les approvisionnent, les agriculteurs — qui sont aujourd’hui les plus fragiles.

Today, I would like to talk about farmers and the price of fresh products. In recent years, many things have changed. I realize this because I often spend time outside France, and the change is very visible when I come back.
If so many expatriates love France, it is not only for the landscapes, the food, or the history. It is also — and above all — for everyday life. For the fact that here, we still do our shopping at the baker’s, the butcher’s, and the cheese-monger’s. For these small neighborhood shops where people talk, take their time, and know each other. And it is precisely these small shops — and the farmers who supply them — that are the most fragile today.
